São Salvador of Bahia, praised in prose and verse for its beauty and cultural traditions, is also characterized by an unusual geographical landscape.
The area popularly known as lower city corresponds to the costal area of the picturesque Bay of all Saints. In this itinerary, we start at the Tororó Dike, a lake surrounded by gardens and century-old trees guarded by statues of Orixas, a majestic monument dedicated to the African gods and the heritage of our ancestors.
This lake provides a panoramic view of the soccer stadium, rebuilt for the World Cup, as we continue our ride through the streets marked by the presence of colonial and contemporary architectural styles resulting from urbanization processes developed after the abolition of slavery.
We will proceed by unveiling the beaches of Ribeira and the Itapagipe peninsula, where we will visit a workshop of the Portuguese art of painting on tiles. In addition, we will have the opportunity to delight ourselves with unique tropical fruit ice cream in a traditional ice cream shop founded in the 1930s.
This tour will also provide our client with the opportunity to feel the vibration in the church of Bonfim, founded in 1754, the most renowned tent of miracles of Bahian people. We will then visit the Montserrat Fortress, the most important site of defense forces of the lower city during the colonial period, which is a strategic point and one that gives us a broad view of the beauty of the city of Salvador.
We will conclude our itinerary by visiting a major landmark of colonial Brazil in the city's seaport are, the Mercado Modelo, which is listed by UNESCO as intangible heritage of Brazil, who serves as a space for free market of a wide variety of art work and handcrafts.
