The city of São Salvador da Bahia emanates the heritage left by African, Portuguese and indigenous legacies. It is such spectacular array of aromas and flavors that we invite our clients to prepare, enjoy, and taste: the delicious delicacies that Bahian cuisine has offer. This itinerary has been carefully crafted to provide the best flavors for your palate. We will do this by attending a cooking class, according to traditions and religious customs. Besides preparing this dish, we will engage in informal conversations with the family that will welcome us.
We invite our customers to start this flavorsome visit at a seafood market, where we will learn the best type of fish to use for various types of recipe, before starting the preparation of the famous fish stew (moqueca), a typical afro-Brazilian local dish.
Next, we will visit another food market, in order to acquire the vegetables to be added to the fish stew, and the tropical fruit that we will use to prepare a special drink, the famous caipirinha. In this hands- on experience, we will learn how to prepare these delicacies, guided by our host family, so we can learn how to prepare this dish according to the Afro-Brazilian tradition. Hence, we will proceed to a popular neighborhood, to the residence of an Afro-Brazilian family, and savor the flavors of the African Diaspora, or as our ancestors would say it, the ajeum (eating is sacred).
